Gracious Anthracite

Every now and then I think about Parallax and the amount of work it would require to salvage and I am sad that this Thranx tribute character never got to show up on stage in chapter 2.

@JulieSqveakaroo

We *could* cast her in a minor role for this...

@anthracite @Soreth @JulieSqveakaroo Sadly it would be a bit difficult, since Alba's the only zoomorph on Terra right now For Plot Reasons.

If there's a Volume Two? We could DEFINITELY do it. I was thinking maybe we could have Alba take Zaffo on a tour of the solar system for it anyhow, and the asteroid belt *is* canonically settled by friendly buggies... 🤔

@zebratron2084 @anthracite @JulieSqveakaroo

Ah, that makes it harder to do then, unless it's something like a background mascot or a headbonk hallucination.

@anthracite ...Thranx, eh? Think I know where those are from. I should go back and reread that setting some time. :p

@anthracite Yup! That's the one. Good ol humanx commonwealth. ;)

@Angle

I wonder how many treatments for film versions of Foster's work there have been. He spent a lot of time cranking out movie novelizations that were far better than they needed to be so I'm sure there was some of that going on.

I'm just gonna spend a moment imagining the world where the Henson studio got involved in making a Thranx happen in a live-action film now. Mmmm. Space mantis friends.

@anthracite @Angle

Oh. I did get the reference!

I am delighted that in this corner of mastodon I've found myself in, I seem to regularly run into references to old sci fi stuff I never would have expected anyone to try and reference because they weren't pop culture.

@ikanz @Angle

welcome to the corner inhabited by aging Bill & Ted's Excellent Generation nerds who were talking about Neuromancer on their local dialup BBS when it came out :)

@anthracite @ikanz I think I'm actually a fair bit younger than that, but my parents had a huge selection of Alan Dean Fosters books, along with a lot of other books, so I grew up reading it. XD

@anthracite @ikanz Yeah, Neuromancer was just about a full decade before I was born. Fun book, though!
