it shocks me, but sadly it doesn't surprise me, that the UK is currently on course to pass a bill that essentially strips from its citizens the protection of law when the crimes in question are committed by the very people charged with upholding the law
this isn't the rule of law. this is legalised tyranny.

TBH I feel the parliament has always been this. It's just that it was better at hiding it's true intent. You only have to look at history and the atrocities and lies carried out in Parliaments name to see it. They are just more open again about it as they know they will stay in power.

@onepict indeed. if a party led by Boris Johnson can be elected with an insuperable majority, clearly there's no need to pretend to be decent people interested in the responsible exercise of power in naught but the national interest any more

The fact labour let it in and voted for it shows that it hasn't changed from New Labour. We will be stuck with this apparatus for the services to use. Now look at what happened with the US. With some law enforcement being part of that insurrection. Be very afraid.

put simply, there's no longer any legal impediment to the creation of a secret police force every bit as despicable as anything seen in any non-democratic country
the "birthplace of parliamentary democracy"™ has become its crematorium
