in fact, in view of this, the case for simply abolishing universal credit altogether and either reverting to the legacy systems which are still, by necessity, up and running, or instead moving forward to the only kind of universal system that matters - a UBI - is considerably strengthened. the judgement leant *hard* on repeated govt declarations that UC wasn't intended to be a money-saving measure; in essence govt has now been ordered to find a way of putting its money where its mouth is (with a substantial side of "fuck you")
