nasin mi li sama. It's easy to learn and has a specific design philosophy. Because of pu there's less tinkering with the language too.

It's cute, fun, philosophic... we can play with it, we can meet other people who just want to communicate, to exchange...
And maybe because you just need some few hours to learn it and some days or week to be able to practice it correctly. My poor english is the result of many years at school and months with Netflix ^^ Other constructed langage are great but they require a lot of time...
Ithkuil has become popular because of its difficulty, rather than despite it.

For me, it was a combination of liking the metaphoric/philosophic angle of the language, coupled with the simplicity making it seem accessible.
I think the fact that it was kind of cute helped too.
