I'm migrating my stuff from bad sites to just a select few trustworthy ones, as part of . What's your opinion on as a host? Is it a host you'd trust, or is it evil to its content providers? I'm attracted to how you can earn revenue from your on it, but a lot of people left it when it changed its branding and started shifting its focus. What's your view? Am I gonna regret hosting my comics on this site?

@frameacloud I host my comics on my own site. I am of course also enough of a nerd to design custom Wordpress styles for all of them...

@anthracite The thing that concerns me about putting them on my own site is that it's not part of a social media site, so folks can't stumble across it easily. (Folks don't even use webrings anymore, either.) How have you handled that problem?

@frameacloud @anthracite ifttt.com is helpful for automatically crossposting to social media. That seems to give me the best of both worlds (and it’s @anthracite doing that which put me down that path).

@frameacloud I used to buy ads on other web comics via Project Wonderful. Dunno if that works any more.

Also used the social media capabilities of the Jetpack plugin to auto-tweet/tumbl/etc new pages as I posted them. To your main account or to an account for the comic, whichever you prefer. Occasionally retoot those with your main account, especially when a chapter is finished or whatever.

Also occasional posts to my FA account when new pages were up. Or whatever other gallery site you may have an audience on.

@frameacloud I had my comic on my own site and Tapas for several years. But left Tapas several months ago.

Audiences grow where you put in the time and effort. Getting your fans to follow from one platform to another is near impossible. Out of 700 tapas subscribers maybe a handful of those check out my own site now.

There are no easy answers to this, it's whatever best fits your circumstances. Best of luck.

@Andy_P That is an important point, that "three moves are as bad as a fire." I'd had at least three already.

@frameacloud I’m still figuring this stuff out and none of the hosting sites really work the way I want them to. Which is why I’m building Publ now.
