Catnip tea used to be what most people drank in medieval England, before Chinese tea became imported more often. Let's see... here's a nice article about catnip in history, medicine, magic, and food.

Looking for an article about catnip in herbalism just now, I learned that people can smoke catnip as a recreational drug, though apparently it doesn't work very well. Maybe some cat people would be interested to read about this?
