Oh damn this is a really nice addition to the standard point-and-click adventure UI. Dialogue history scrollback!

Return to Monkey Island also has "hit tab to highlight interactive stuff" which is one of those innovations that took a disturbing amount of time to pop up. I don't miss playing hunt-the-pixel.

@anthracite I think a lot of older games, they didn't know yet what would be better or worse.

Oh definitely! They were working it out as they went along, and a lot of Gilbert's design choices were direct reactions against stuff he hated about Sierra's work.

@anthracite There's some classic games I really like, and wish they had modern versions with modern controls after all the awkward experiments trying to figure out what works and standardize it.

And then I still don't actually play Daggerfall Unity anyways. XD

It's been a pretty fun time so far. It knows it's partially a nostalgia trip and it's doing a real good job of not completely wallowing in that. There's a little "I do not understand these kids today" sentiment but it's a lot less bitchy about it than all the "jokes" on the subject in Thimbleweed Park.
