Now that I have gotten the hang of Cuphead’s basic systems I am not finding it really all that hard. It is a pleasing and fun challenge. Maybe I have just played too much of the kinds of games it is rooted in?
but really now that have figured out that the part of the game past "shoot enemies, don't touch anything" is "collide with pink things after hitting the jump button to build up Super Attack" it's gotten a LOT easier; a big part of analyzing each phase of a boss is seeing where the pink enemies/bullets show up and working out how to maximize your chances for collecting them.
There is also a strategic layer on top of that of deciding if you want to use these super attacks one at a time, or if you want to save up five of them for an Ultra Attack and hopefully make *really* short work of a really annoying boss phase.
