So after Apple booted them off the iOS store, Tumblr is starting to ban Adult Content left and right. My suspicion is that this is pretty much tantamount to suicide for them.
And you know what? Good. I'll be glad to see it go. It is *insanely* hostile to attempting to have a conversation. It's great for echoing stuff with its focus on reblogs, but its lack of any kind of real comment system has always made me dislike it.
A lot of this place is just me talking into the void with not much response too, but at least I can fucking *see* all the responses when they do happen, and easily participate in the ensuing conversation. Tumblr always made that incredibly opaque.
To be fair, there were warning signs since Yahoo bought it, and now, it's only starting to come true.
I stopped using it a while ago, since it was hurting my health.
@anthracite YESSSS. I put in a good-faith effort to try to use tumblr, but there was some problem with their site (I don't even remember what it was) that eventually got me to download and use the "missing E" extension. and then tumblr disallowed and deliberately borked extensions instead of FIXING THEIR DAMN SHIT and I was like "WELP I'M OUT." it *baffles* me how people continued to extend tumblr good faith after its many bullshit shenanigans.
@anthracite Buncha Mastodon mentions in the MeFi thread if you want to give the pitch there.
I use tumblr -specifically- as a porn distribution system, so I'll be off it too once the bans start going out.
