ugggh I have had Toto's "Africa" in my head last night and this morning fml
@vudw That's kind of why. I made the mistake of listening to that. And some of the other covers of the damn song in the MeFi post about it. And now it's stuck.
Why. I paid for my sins already. I was alive in 1983 when it was ubiquitous. But here it is. In my head. Endlessly. With no escape. A white man's vague vision of a place he knows only from television, turned into a catchy hook, pounded into my head by endless repetition in years when carrying your own music around was only possible if you could buy that expensive new Walkman thing. I have done my time in the whitest vision of Africa possible. I do not need to return.
And yet.
@anthracite It is catchy. That's about all I can say. And then we must drown it out with all the other tunes and vibes. You did your time.
And you want out.
Alas, it remains relevant this much longer.
@anthracite Sounds like you're frightened of this thing that you've become.
@anthracite I feel your pain. I've had "Sister Christian" in my head, but only the lines, "MOTORING! What's your priiiice for fliiiiight?!"
I think I'm stuck with that in my head until I build the little motor I've been meaning to build. Thanks, brain. Thanks a lot.
@sculpin Evidently, the price for flight is building a motor. At least you've got a way out!
@anthracite Thank goodness!
